Fort McMurray Fire Situation

Welcome_to_fort_mcmurrayWe were deeply saddened to hear about the ongoing wildfire situation in Fort McMurray and  the surrounding area. Having visited that community several times over the past couple of years, our staff have grown fond of the city and the beauty of the boreal forest that grows within and surrounding it.

Fort McMurray is a place blessed with natural beauty and full of friendly, hard working people for whom we wish the best possible outcome. Although many homes have been lost to the wildfires and more damage may yet be sustained, we know that Fort McMurray will rise from the ashes and rebuild itself as the strong, resilient community that it is.

Our thoughts are also with other communities around Alberta and across the country that are struggling to contain wildfires at this time.

Several of our partners are committed to doing their part to aid the evacuees now and to help them rebuild their community when the fires have been stopped. The Alberta Common Ground Alliance (ABCGA) has issued a notice of their intent to provide whatever assistance is needed that they are able to provide. abcgaftmac
