New Course: Your Mental Health & Well-Being

Safety in Schools and Service Hospitality are happy to announce the release of our newest course: Your Mental Health & Well-Being.

This course was adapted from a presentation developed by Service Hospitality and the Saskatchewan division of the Canadian Mental Health Association to promote and provide awareness to youth and assist them in managing their mental health and well-being. This online course is appropriate for students in Grades 7 through 12.

Course Description

Mental health affects everything in a person’s life, including relationships, success in school, and even physical health. Anxiety, stress and change are a normal part of life that everyone faces, but how individuals deal with them can have a big impact on mental health.

This course is designed to help students develop mental health coping skills.

Upon completion of this one-hour online course, students should be able to:

  • Understand and define mental health, mental illness, and anxiety;
  • Describe some of the common causes and symptoms of anxiety;
  • Analyze and establish effective strategies for dealing with stress, anxiety and change, and for helping others manage stress, anxiety and change;
  • Understand the benefits of helping themselves and others manage stress, anxiety and change; and,
  • Understand when and how to seek support for their mental health.

Your Mental Health and Well-Being is an excellent addition to Alberta’s Health and Life Skills and Career and Life Management curricula and Saskatchewan’s Health Education and Wellness Education curricula.
